Outreach Program
The purpose of Outreach is to create a bridge for students to connect back into learning.
It is a proactive engagement program that provides a multi-faceted approach to support young people who have disconnected from any formal education.
It aims to identify barriers to attendance plus it evaluates appropriate strategies to increase engagement within the education setting.
Workers provide support to the student within the young person’s own environment and where appropriate and possible, collaborate with family/carers.
Counselling & Welfare
Sowilo provides pastoral and welfare care to support students to re-engage and develop resilience to the pressures they may face.
Our Welfare Team consists of a diverse range of staff members including but not limited to:
- Senior Social Worker
- Social Workers
- Degree and Diploma Trained Counsellors
- Wellbeing Officers/Youth workers
- Consultative Clinical Psychologist
Our aim as a Welfare Team is to provide:
- 1:1 counselling
- 24 hours online and phone support
- Program development
- 1:1 academic support
- In class academic support
- Leadership and community development
The student services team is made up of councillors, social workers, and Youth Workers and Wellbeing Officers, as well as a variety of external support agencies that can add to the support provided by classroom teachers and education support staff.
